Patrick Gale:

Take Nothing With You

Sunday 20 October

16h00 Salle des fêtes

The youngest of four children, Patrick was born on the Isle of Wight and as a child moved to London and then to Winchester, following his father's career as a prison governor.  Whilst there, Patrick was a Winchester College Quirister and then attended Winchester College.

After graduating with a degree in English from New College Oxford, he supported his nascent writing career with odd jobs in London until the publication, three years later, of his first two novels, The Aerodynamics of Pork and Ease.  The following year he moved to Cornwall, a county where he now lives, on a farm near Land’s End with his husband, Aidan Hicks.

Patrick has published 16 novels and 2 books of short stories, the most well-known of which include Notes from an Exhibition, A Perfectly Good Man and A Place Called Winter.

He plays both the modern and baroque cello, chairs the North Cornwall Book Festival, is patron of Penzance LitFest and is a director of Endelienta and patron of the Charles Causley Trust.
